International Walk to School Day -Northside Safety Walk

Northside held a Safety Walk on Wednesday April 6, 2011 with the help of Penn State Hershey Medical Center, FedEx Express, and the Palmyra Borough Police. It was designed to enhance safety for our students when walking to school or in their neighborhood. Since most pedestrian injuries happen to children 5 to 9 years of age, it is important to make them aware of ways to stay safe.
The entire school started the day by walking together in the neighborhood that surrounds our school. The walk was followed by Pedestrian Safety Activities for grades K-3. Grades 4 & 5 are writing essays pertaining to issues that may be a danger in their own neighborhoods.

WHTM-TV Channel 27 News was here to cover us and their story can be found through this link http://www.abc27.com/story/14394694/palmyra-students-learn-to-stay-safe-on-walk-to-school

Lebanon Daily News was also in attendance and ran a front page article about our Safety Walk in their Thursday April 7 edition! Pictures that were taken by their photographer can be seen on their web site http://ldnews.mycapture.com/mycapture/folder.asp?event=1209019&CategoryID=1685&view=1
